Blogger Interview # 68 : Sudeshna Das

---------------------------------------------
Can you tell us a little about yourself and your blog?
---------------------------------------------

I am an undergrad student of Computer Science and Engineering, a self-confessed foodie, a Harry Potter fanatic (more specifically, a Ravenclaw), a bibliophile, and a girl who is in love with love.

Soaring Dreams (www.sudeshnadas.com) is my personal blog where I write about life, books, and anything that catches my fancy.

--------------------------------------------------------------
Are you a full time blogger? How did you get into blogging and why?
--------------------------------------------------------------

Nope, I am a full time vella, actually. :P I am a student, and blogging is just something I love doing. I started blogging just before I started college. I was going through a twilight zone in my life at that time, and I decided to turn to writing to vent my innermost thoughts. And from Day 1, blogging has been synonymous to freedom for me.

I blog whenever I get the urge to, so I'd say I'm pretty unpredictable, but blogging has given me so many wonderful friends, and I don't think I'm going to stop blogging. Ever.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The only thing I'd tell anyone who's considering starting a blog is to inspect exactly why they want to blog in the first place. I have come across people who think it'd be cool to have a blog, and there are even people who think it'll bring them fame, but I personally think a person should blog only because they have something to share with the whole world. Be it photography, music, poems...just anything. As long as you have something meaningful to express, blogging is the way to go.
If you resort to blogging for any other reason, I don't think you'll enjoy it. And I firmly believe that you should enjoy what you do.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you build a community around a blog and social media?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am pretty active on social media sites, primarily because I'm a curious cat, and getting to know others is something I find really worthwhile.

I have never consciously tried to build a community or promote my blog. I don't believe in phony praises to increase page views. I speak my mind, and I hold every action of mine accountable to my soul.

But I'd say I've been extremely lucky to have come across some wonderful fellow bloggers who have brought meaning to my blogging-life. And I'd go out on a limb to support my friends.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What are your three favorite blogs to read? What makes those blogs special?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Confessions Of The Chocolate Obsessed by Priyanka Victor (priyankavictor.blogspot.com) is a very honest blog, and PeeVee writes really well.

Addicted To Blush by Tanveer Parmar (addictedtoblush.blogspot.com) is a beauty blog that I love to read. I love the way it indulges the pink-loving girl in me.

The official blog of Princess Mia Thermopolis (www.miathermopolis.comis a blog by a fictional character written by bestselling author Meg Cabot. It is a great read for anyone who has ever read the Princess Diaries books.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which one plugin would you suggest all bloggers to have?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would recommend the LinkWithin similar posts plugin. It is something every blog should have.
