1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your blog?
I guess I
am a slightly delusional expressionist! I spend a lot of my time on the
internet, watching movies and writing. I used to be an active photographer, but
that passion has taken a back seat for a while.
My blog http://parmitaborah.blogspot.com covers
latest information on Social Media, SEO, Gadgets, Photography, reviews of
movies, music and events, and trending topics on fashion and lifestyle. It’s
pretty much of an Infotainment blog.
2. Are you a full time blogger? How
did you get into blogging and why?
Not
really. Since I work as an eBiz specialist at Honeywell Process Solutions, I am
usually not able to post like a full time blogger. I do, however, try to post
atleast thrice a week.
I started
blogging sometime in 2006, when social media, networking and collaboration was
beginning its boom in India. Initially, it served the purpose of a journal, as
I was not aware of the marketing potential of a blog. I would feel very happy
when a friend or two left a comment on my ramblings. No later than a year and
after numerous trials and errors, I realized that, apart from being a journal,
my blog could be an information conservatory.
3. If someone was interested in
blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
To begin
with, I would ask aspiring bloggers to blog regularly and always remember that
Content is King. If your content is not useful or entertaining to the reader,
your blog will not lay golden eggs. Emphasize on creating an error/typo free
blog. Trust me I have learnt it the hard way.
4. How do you build a community around
a blog and social media?
Since I
am huge fan of micro blogging, my first love is Facebook, followed by twitter. But
I have also utilized Google Buzz, Technorati, networked blogs and mybloglog.
Collaborating your blog with these social media sites helps drive traffic to
your blog. Back linking could also be useful if you link blogs relevant to your
blog.
5. What are your three favorite blogs
to read? What makes those blogs special?
http://www.seomoz.org/blog-
the best information you can get on Search Engines and Social Media marketing
http://india-north-east.blogspot.com/-
an incredible reservoir of fascinating facts about North East India
6. Which one plugin would you suggest
all bloggers to have?
Facebook ‘like box’. It
works like an analytics tool.
