1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your blog?
I am a writer by profession and a poet at will- (well, this is how I started defining myself from one fine November morning. I have been writing since my school and college days, and have been a ardent member of poemhunter.com, since my college days.
I have got three active blogs.
a journey called...contains personal poems, articles, serious social articles, reviews, a bit about my hobbies, videos created by me, lyrics of songs I love the most and all such things that serve as perfect definition of a wanderer. It also houses some of my favorite moments with "Coffee". You will also find collaborated posts- the images are provided by several of the fellow bloggers and the poems are written by me.
A Vagabond and a wizard is a collaborated blog. It was born out of a friendly discussion with a self proclaimed vagabond-fellow blogger. The images are provided by vagabond and the poems are once again penned down by me. It is a serious effort from our perfect to combine poetic expression with visual entities. we are creating new ways to write out our minds in our own way.
Footprints on...is rather a dormant blog, which contains a growing draft of a novel I have been writing since a couple of years. the thought was within me since my middle school days...
2. Are you a full time blogger? How did you get into blogging and why?
I blog anytime, anywhere. now does this describe me as a full time blogger?! I got into blogging simply because I liked the idea of sharing myself with fellow writers and poets and thinkers. It is easier for me to know that people are there around the world who might think like me. am I asking to be recognized, acknowledged, I really don't think so...I am trying to find my place in this ever transforming world...hope my pursuit bears fruit...
3. If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?
If any one of you out there are planning to create a blog, I would say pen down just anything you love doing the most. for expressing yourself is a power you need to yet again express that you exist! to say " I think, therefore I am"- blog it out!
4. How do you build a community around a blog and social media?
Building community would require you to search for people like you. Register into free directories. Read over blogs google search helps in these cases. you can tell your friends, families and aquintances about your blog. Ask them to spread the news about your new blog. Join portals that support blogging. And of course spread the news of your blog in social media portals, create pages for your blog, or even communities---invest quality time--the whole might take around six months time--but then you will have great numbers of post readers at your advantage. Always post replies to the comments your blogposts keep receiving from time to time. be genuine in your remarks. all bloggers love to feel appreciated and acknowledged.
5. What are your three favorite blogs to read? What makes those blogs special?
I like ajay patil's "weekend brushstrokes", blogs by magic eye and Farila Rizwan's blogs. In fact there are several other blogs like Addy's brainwave, the one maintained by Witty Humour, Ritu Lalit's blog and several other poetyr and painting blogs. Of late I am reading my blog partner's blogs a lot too. what makes them special---well cause all of them are written by special people. These blogs give me food for thought, a reason to raise my vioce against the odds, laugh out loud, ponder about life and urge me to never stop doing something I love doing the most- WRITE!
6. Which one plugin would you suggest all bloggers to have?
If you are talking about one plugin---and if I am supposed to think about the singular one that no blogger on earth can survive without--then create the "follower" widget right away!
happy blogging to all the readers, friends and strangers reading this interview.
