Can you tell us a little about yourself and your blog?

Touristic is my online diary. In it, I give my perspectives on the world and my place within it. I do not do any reviews, giveaways or commercial posts on Touristic. Touristic for me is about discovering spaces and places whether it be in the world outside or within my wacky little head.

Are you a full time blogger? How did you get into blogging and why?

I blog daily but I do not engage in it as a profession - I use blogging almost in a Doogie Howser-ish way as a personal way to comment on how I perceive the world. I started blogging as a way to share a hobby with my wife Heather (Her blog is www.ActingBalanced.com). We often work together on posts and ideas for each other's blogs. It is a nice partnership.

If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest?

Get a routine going with it. Work on finding your voice. Remember, grammar and spelling matter. Most importantly, have fun with it.

How do you build a community around a blog and social media?

Find blogs and people that you find interesting and visit/ comment often. This starts conversations with others. It is really not that different than meeting people in real life. Be interested in them, find commonalities and the next thing you know, all of a sudden you are friends.

I am obligated to say www.actingbalanced.com (See Contract: Marriage). I love my wife's blog because it is a reflection of her.
Another favorite of mine is the www.unknownmami.com. I love her blend of humor and all around good nature.
Finally, I really like Doug Smith's sports blog.

Which one plugin would you suggest all bloggers to have?

This really depends on what you want to do on your blog. I think everyone should be linked into Alexa. It seems to give the most accurate numbers on visitation. Keep your blog as clean and streamlined as possible (read limit the amount of plugins you do have). Make sure you text is easy to read over multiple platforms. Also, you comments section should be easy to use and navigate (no captia).
